Türkiye Shopping Hidden Gem: Grand Bazaar

The minute I stepped foot into the Grand Bazaar I felt as if I was transported back in time to an era of shopping like no other (a girl can only dream). The colorful and chaotic labyrinth of shops is in the heart of Istanbul's Old City and has been so for centuries. Starting as a small vaulted warehouse built by the order of Mehmet the Conqueror in 1461, it grew to cover a vast area as lanes between the neighboring shops and caravans were roofed and the market assumed the sprawling form that retains it today.
The Grand Bazaar is an overwhelming experience for many. Sellers announce their products at the top of their lungs, everyone has their own technique to entice you in, the colors, lights, and sounds create an exotic and unique atmosphere. Although it can feel like a tourist trap at first, there are quality goods and real bargains to be found... if you know where to look. Make sure you have an idea of what you want to find and how much you want to pay for it. Bargaining is an accepted practice, and if you don't participate - you might find yourself paying way over the odds. Yet, I cannot wait to return very soon to try more of their products!

I got a scarf and two teas, which complimented any Turkish dish exquisitely. The quality of the premium material is easy to see, and with my sister getting different scarf we had the chance to appreciate and compare each style. My favorite was definitely the oralet tea. I was in Turkish heaven!
