Since it was one of my last free summers (2023), I decided to travel with Great Commission Outreach to Guatemala for some community service work in a region I have had my eyes on for a while now. Founder Eugene Gicheru is a board-certified emergency physician and CEO of CareCulture Health Partners. The villages had the feel of a dense jungle meeting the lively and vibrant Guatemalan hospitality. It was a beautiful week in the summer, and we enjoyed everything to the max.
During my trip I had wonderful conversations with Dr. Gicheru himself and he told me about their work in La Pila and Pachut... I recommend everyone to spend some time with them!
Overall - The atmosphere had an amazing energy, the locals were extremely friendly, the food was invigorating & the nature was my fave part of the trip

Guatemala, a Central American country south of Mexico, is home to volcanoes, rainforests, and ancient Mayan sites. The volcanoes especially were so unique and intense, & the rainforests below were beautiful.
Great choice for travel.
